I have another old Dell sitting around that I could possibly steal a network card from, but I’m afraid that it still wouldn’t help and then I’d have a franken-machine with mixed and matched parts and never get this working.

Sometimes Dell has a very specific order for installing drivers.

If you only have SP1 you may have to download SP2 on another computer and get that installed before installing the drivers yet again. You list yourself as advanced, so I won’t try to insult your intelligence. If so, you shouldn’t have anymore exclamation marks.

Seriously, I’ve installed all of the device drivers that Dell offers from their web page. If they don’t have that for your model then be sure to install the chipset first, then networking, and then the rest.
Do you already have an account? I have downloaded all of the drivers eimension on the Dell Support page and everything on the resources CD.
I used the original disks that came with the system to do a clean install of the Windows XP Home operating system and their “resources” cd.
