I downgraded your project to VS and it opens successfully in bit and bit mode. You should be getting a not supported error when reading the driver version from the DLL. The next version of the USBXpress package will be v6. I find this question offensive. I think I’m not mixing stuff up here, I believe the VCP drivers aren’t even installed on my machines.

Make sure you call the get DLL version function to confirm in case the application is loading a different DLL than you think. This is the driver you get automatically if you connect a device for the first time, or if you “force” Windows to get the latest drivers. They were automatically published to Windows Update as a part of this process.

I also do not use customized drivers. I’ve noticed a recent change in which driver you get automatically via the windows update function It may take a few days to usbpress through the Windows release server, but the automatic updates should no longer occur once this happens.
